The San Francisco Giants are in San Diego for game 1 of a 3 game series. For the Padres it’s RHP Ian Kennedy (5-9, 5.10 ERA) and the Giants counter with Barry Zito (4-10, 5.81 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 1:10pt on this Labor Day afternoon.

Zito has gone 0-8 with a 10.10 ERA (46er, 41.0ip) and a .423 opponents average against in 10 starts on the road this season. The Giants haven’t won any of his starts on the road going 0-10 in all. The last Giants pitcher to lose nine-or-more consecutive road decisions was Jonathan Sanchez from Sept. 17, 2008-July 25, 2009.

Here’s Bruce Bochy‘s lineup for the matinee. Looks like the band is back together.

Chase Headley has a sore back and is once again out for Bud Black‘s Padres.

It’s a battle to stay out of the cellar as the Giants are 1 game better than the Padres for 4th place in the division with a 61-75 record. This is the final seires the Giants will play in San Diego this season.
