I feel like this is a pretty obvious selection for MVP of August. Brandon Belt has come alive. He was selected at NL Player of the Week, and has continued to shine. Check out his August stats below. Bold indicates a team-leading stat for the month.

  • .333 AVG
  • .404 OBP
  • .573 SLG
  • .977 OPS
  • 32 Hits
  • 7 Doubles
  • 2 Triples
  • 4 Home Runs
  • 13 Extra-Base Hits
  • 11 RBIs
  • 10 Walks
  • 18 Strike-Outs

It wasn’t just one or two good weeks either. He continued hitting .389 last week. If it wasn’t for Andrew McCutchen being almost a shoo-in for the MB NL Player of the Month, you’d think Belt would be a consideration for that title as well. Whatever he’s doing with this bat grip, he needs to keep doing and win over a lot of the fans he lost in the early part of the season.
