The Giants are back at it in Colorado for the second game of the three game set. On the mound will be Yusmeiro Petit  who gets the nod to replace Matt Cain who is on the 15 day disabled list. Cain suffered a right forearm contusion off a smacked line drive pitching against the Pirates last week. This is the first time Cain has been on the DL in his career.

Petit was recently called up to the majors upon Cain’s DL stint. Petit was solid in his lone major league game this year where he appeared in relief work against Cincinnati back on July 23. He went 5.1 innings and whiffed 7, only earning 2 runs on 6 hits. He holds a 4.52 ERA this year in Triple A Fresno coming into tonight’s game.

Behind him will feature the majority of the lackluster lineup that didn’t have a single player shining through last night. There were 7 total hits and no player got more than one. Joaquin Arias batted in the Giants lone run in a pinch hit situation breaking up the shut out.

Tweaked slightly from last night, here is tonight’s Giants lineup:

Buster Posey gets a rest with Hector Sanchez behind the dish. Hunter Pence will still play and is fine after his scary collision at the right field wall last night.

Rookie Chad Bettis will be tossing for the Rockies. He made his debut at the 1st of this month and has no wins in only 2 appearances with a 4.50 ERA.

The Rockies will feature this lineup behind him:

The Giants can hope to take advantage with the bats against an inexperienced young rookie.

First pitch 5:40pm PT
