Vogelsong Activated From DL; Set To Start Friday

May 20, 2013; San Francisco, CA, USA; San Francisco Giants pitcher Ryan Vogelsong (32) hits a sacrifice bunt for an RBI against the Washington Nationals in the fourth inning at AT&T Park.
According to John Shea, Ryan Vogelsong will come off the disabled list (DL) and start for the San Francisco Giants on Friday against the Baltimore Orioles.
Great news for Ryan Vogelsong, who was told he'll come off the DL and start Friday for #sfgiants.

Vogelsong has been on the DL since May 21st after he fractured his hand while at bat. There was speculation that he may pitch a game in Fresno before returning to San Francisco, but it looks like he’ll be re-joining the game sooner rather than later. Vogelsong looked good in his rehab start for AA Richmond yesterday going 6IP, 5 hits, 1ER, 1BB, and 5K’s on 85 pitches.
His return is much anticipated by not only fans, but likely also his teammates. With Barry Zito recently being pulled from the rotation, and only a so-so outing from Guillermo Moscoso last night, having Vogey’s presence and attitude on the hill will certainly be welcome. His numbers prior to his injury, however, may not be so welcome. He was 2-4 in 9 games, with a 7.19 ERA. For now, we’ll just chalk that up to early season kinks. Though, if it’s between him and Zito, I think I’d pick Vogelsong pretty much any night of the week.
Vogelsong will start the series against the Baltimore Orioles at 7:15pm on Friday. Happy Orange Friday (hopefully)!
