Heyman: #Reds Have Inquired on Hunter Pence

By Stuart Jones

When you think of “teams that will need a right fielder,” whom are also in the chase for the playoffs, no one will blame you if the Reds aren’t one of the first teams on your list. They currently have Shin-Soo Choo playing out of position in center field and Jay Bruce hitting homers in right field with Chris Heisey, Derrick Robinson, and Xavier Paul all providing the help where they can. Ryan Ludwick had shoulder surgery in the beginning of April and has not seen MLB action since then. CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman tweeted this out a little before 1:30PM PST on Monday:

Probably doesn’t look like a match on July 29th because the Giants have just started selling and their prices on their players are hitting other clubs like the Giants ticket prices hit the middle class. Pence has a .277/.320/.457 going in 2013 with a .336 wOBA and 119 wRC+, along with a nice 3.1 fWAR. He has about $4.94MM left on his contract since he makes about $85K per game with his $13.8MM deal.
