No Runs for Bums; Giants 0, Cubs 1

For Giants Fans, the best part of the game was watching Madison Bumgarner pitched 8 shutout innings. He should have gotten the win but Giants runners die at third base.

Jul 21, 2013; San Francisco, CA, USA; San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner (40) throws the first pitch of the first inning in a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks at AT

The following players failed to get a runner home from third base and less than two outs:

* Joaquin Arias – Bottom of the 6th, after Hunter Pence led off the inning with a double and was moved over to third by Jeff Francoeur, Arias grounded out to the third baseman that kept Pence at third.

* Buster Posey – Didn’t think I’d see this name on the list but, in the bottom of the eighth bases loaded and Posey at bat, I would think a run would score. But, he hit it to shortstop who got the lead runner out at home.

* Pablo Sandoval – Same situation as Posey in the same inning and did the same thing as Posey.

* Tony Abreau – Bottom of the 9th one out and bases are loaded and he grounds into a double play to end the game.

The worst part was former Giants player, Nate Schierholtz hit a homer in the top of the ninth for the only run of the game.

Sergio Romo takes his second loss in two days.

Hopefully, the Giants can salvage one game of the series.

I’ve already started my countdown to Football that starts in 40 days and, Hockey that starts in 65 days. 49ers and Sharks should be playoff caliber teams again.
