Well yesterday wasn’t pretty, to put it lightly. In his first game since his 148 pitch no-hitter against San Diego, Tim Lincecum got shelled and the bats were nowhere to be found in an 11-0 loss at AT&T Park.

In 2013 the Giants are 0-4 against Cincinnati and have been outscored 25-3. The Reds have seemingly been on a mission to destroy the Giants since last season’s NLDS in which San Francisco swept Cincinnati at their park to come back from an 0-2 deficit.
Today’s doubleheader features Eric Surkamp pitching game 1, making his first appearance in the Majors since 2011 after undergoing Tommy John surgery last season.
“I’m sure I’m going to be a little nervous,” Surkamp said. “It’s been a long year. … You can’t really say it’s just another game.”
San Francisco will be the home team for that one, starting at 4:05 PT.
The Giants will then switch to their road uniforms for game 2 and bat at the top of the inning at AT&T Park. This is the makeup game for the July 4th rainout in Cincinnati. Barry Zito will start, technically for the road team. If Zito pitches true to form in the grey unis, this could be a long one- Barry has a 9.89 ERA on the road in 2013. This is AT&T Park though, where he owns a 2.45 ERA, so hopefully that Zito makes an appearance in front of the home fans.
Statistically game 2 will count as a home game for the Giants- confused yet?- and start 30 minutes after game 1 is over.
Tony Cingrani (3-1, 3.23 ERA) will start game 1 for the Reds, and Greg Reynolds will start game 2- also making his first start since 2011.
