Law: Kyle Crick Only #SFGiants Prospect in Top 50

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: a prospect list has come out, and Kyle Crick is on top for all Giants. This time around it comes from ESPN’s Keith Law and the insider article of his Top 50 can be accessed here. Crick got his highest ranking between Law, Baseball America (#49), and Baseball Prospectus (Honorable Mention). Keith talked about Crick with a quick paragraph:
"“Crick has flown past teammate Clayton Blackburn this year. Blackburn has better command and control, but Crick has huge stuff, sitting mid-90s and touching 98 with a plus breaking ball but, as you saw in the Futures Game, less than perfect command. He missed two months this year with an oblique strain, punching out 32 and walking 10 across four starts since his return.”"

Evidence in Crick having the stuff is his 35.0% K% rate in 2013 at High-A San Jose through eight starts at 34.2 IP. He threw five shutout innings on Wednesday but had five walks against Modesto. Local speculation is that while Crick has great stuff, he will likely spend the rest of the season in High-A. Also invited to the Futures Game at Citi Field, Crick will turn 21 at the end of November.
