Forbes: #SFGiants 49th most valuable sports team in the world

By Stuart Jones

Much to the dismay of a good number of Americans, futbol is the most popular game in the world, and the most recent Forbes slideshow backs that up, with the three most valuable sports clubs all from the sport of soccer. I’ve listed the top three clubs, baseball teams, and any other Bay Area sports teams that made the Top 50.

#1 — Real Madrid: $3.3B

#2 — Manchester United: $3.165B

#3 — Barcelona: $2.6B

#4 — New York Yankees: $2.3B

#7 — Los Angeles Dodgers: $1.615B

#11 — Boston Red Sox: $1.312B

#17 — San Francisco 49ers: $1.175B

#31 — Chicago Cubs: $1B

#45 — New York Mets: $811MM

No surprise that there are so many American Football teams more valuable than the Giants, and the baseball clubs ranked ahead of them should not be a surprise to the common baseball fan, either. Cool to see the Giants on this list, and as a 49ers fan, cool to see them ahead of the Raiders.
