Giants Look To Sweep Padres – Pre-Game & Lineups

By Denise Walos

The Giants will go for a four-game winning streak to sweep the Padres today at Petco Park. The Giants have won three-straight games for the first time since May 10-12, 2013.

Barry Zito  (4-6, 4.62 ERA) looks for his first win since May 30 vs Oakland Athletics. Zito has faced the Padres three times this year and is 1-0 with a 1.65 ERA. While Tim Lincecum (see no hitter) has always pitched well at Petco, Zito is 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA in San Diego. He’ll look for his first win there since Aug. 2, 2008. Let’s hope he gets some early run support from the offense who is batting .333 with 23 runs in the series.

Jeff Francoeur will start in LF today. I think everyone is excited to see him in the lineup. Posey is at 1B, Belt is on the bench. Abreu is starting at SS for the first time this season.

Let’s sweep the Padres on this glorious Sunday, the last game before the All-Star break.
