Cincinnati Reds pitcher Homer Bailey was perfect through 6 innings tonight against the San Francisco Giants. If not for a leadoff walk by Gregor Blanco in the 7th, this would be a much bigger occasion tonight for the Reds. That said, had it not been for some bad base running by Blanco, Buster Posey may have taken Bailey’s no-no away altogether. Either way you look at it though, the Giants are struggling. June is gone, but these guys are still pressing and not coming up with anything, literally.
On a positive note, Tim Lincecum pitched well in 5.1 innings. He had good command early in the game, just allowing 1 run through 5 innings, and giving up 2 more in the 5th before he was pulled.
Congrats to Homer Bailey and the Reds, but let’s hope Hunter Pence can get his reverend on and pump some motivation into these struggling Giants. It would be nice to head into the All-Star break with some positive vibe.
