Although the San Francisco Giants have placed third baseman Pablo Sandoval on the disabled list, there’s actually good news to come from it.
There was concern earlier this morning that Sandoval had a hairline fracture in his left foot but according to Hank Schulman, that is thankfully not the case.
Per Hank:
"I’m now told Sandoval does NOT have a “hairline fracture” in his foot. We will get clarification from trainer during BP."
Sandoval, who has struggled recently, most likely due to the foot injury will be place on the disabled list retroactive to June 9th and the Giants are hopeful he’ll return when his 15 day stint is up.
To take Sandoval’s place, the Giants recalled infielder Nick Noonan who was just recently sent down to play on an everyday basis, something he’ll most likely be doing with the big boys for the next few weeks – or at least, splitting time.
Noonan had struggled recently before his demotion, this after starting off his big league career with a bang. Hopefully less sporadic playing time will get him back into his groove.
