Just days after the San Francisco Giants said they had no plans to call up Brett Pill, the Giants have called up Brett Pill.

Pill was recalled after yesterday’s win over the Atlanta Braves and is currently en route to Toronto where he’ll meet the Giants when they open play against the Blue Jays tomorrow evening.

Pill will be taking the roster spot of Francisco Peguero, who was sent back down after struggling during his six game stint with the Giants. Peguero hit .188 in his 16 at-bats, finding it difficult to get the ball out of the infield.

Meanwhile, Pill had been tearing the cover off the ball in AAA-Fresno, hitting .341 and leading all of professional baseball in RBI with 47 in just 32 games. The San Dimas native is expected to take on a bench role, that is, until Brandon Belt falls into a 1 for 19 slump and Pill is awarded the starting first base job.

Relax, relax, I’m just kidding.

Sort of.

I hope.

Christ, now I’m scared. Thanks a lot!!!

Pill currently holds a career .239 Major League average in 167 plate appearances, though, should be a more useful bat off the bench than Peguero proved to be in his short stay with the Giants.
