ESPN SportsNation begins “Best Jersey” contest

ESPN SportsNation likes to get the fan’s input on sports, so it’s not surprising they’ve come out with another contest for the fans to vote on. This time it’s the fans debating/voting which teams have the best jerseys in baseball, and they have a bracket set up that looks like this:

Detroit and St. Louis were decided to have the sweetest jerseys in their respective leagues, which I guess is fine. The Giants have the 5-12 seed matchup against the Colorado Rockies. I like the little graphic they put up for each matchup, and for the SF-COL one it looks like this:

In case you’d like a reminder how sweet the orange jerseys look:

May 3, 2013; San Francisco, CA, USA; San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey (28) hits an RBI double ahead of Los Angeles Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis (17) during the sixth inning at AT

Pretty nice, although most Dodger fans don’t like them, but whatever. Voting for the first round ends on Tuesday at 9 A.M. (EST, I’m assuming.)

Fan voting contests don’t always go the way popular opinion would normally put them, as you might argue the All Star Voting does, and ESPN’s other baseball contest that asked fans to decide the “Best Ballpark” did with Miller Park winning. Therefore, it stands to reason that it’s totally possible that the Giants might not win this contest, but they might not even make it out of the first round. If I had to predict a championship matchup based on the unpredictability of the fans, I’ll guess Houston vs. Atlanta with the Braves winning.

As for my opinion on which team has the best jerseys, well that’s biased. Outside of the Giants, I’d probably pick the Astros. Besides your favorite club, who’s got your favorite jersey?
