After last night’s shellacking at the hands of the Atlanta Braves, there were quiet whispers that the San Francisco Giants were thinking of skipping Ryan Vogelsong’s next turn in the rotation.

Those rumors have been quieted this afternoon as manager Bruce Bochy told CSN’s Andrew Baggarly that Vogelsong will indeed make his next scheduled start, which will take place in Toronto against the Blue Jays.

Per Baggs:

"Vogelsong will take his next scheduled turn in Toronto, Bochy said."

The Giants were thinking of using Monday’s off day to skip Ryan, with hopes that some rest would allow the normally elite control of Vogelsong to return.

It’s been a woeful start to the season for the Cinderella storied pitcher as he currently sits second to last in ERA (7.78) for qualified starters, only ahead of the Houston Astros’ Philip Humber (8.49) – though he’s had no trouble with strikeouts as his 37 punch outs rank nearly in the National League’s top twenty.

Nobody ever likes to see a player struggle, but the gut-punch is even worse to see a player who fought so hard and put so much effort into getting where he is today.

We’re rooting for ya, Ry.
