According to Andrew Baggarly, of CSN Bay Area, Jose Mijares‘ has request bereavement leave after his grandmother just passed away in Venezuela. Initially, Mijares’ had asked Bruch Bochy for personal time to be with her while she was ill, but apparently has passed away today. In the meantime, RHP Sandy Rosario has been called up. My guess is that it will be short lived, as Jeremy Affeldt is set to come off the disabled list tomorrow. That will give another lefty in the bullpen with Mijares’ absence. Let’s just hope we don’t need more than one tonight.

Of note, bereavement leave has a minimum of 3 days and maximum of 7 days.

Prayers and condolences go out to Mijares’ and his family during this time of loss.
