According to Hank Schulman, the San Francisco Giants and Manager Bruce Bochy are close to announcing an agreement on an extension that will keep the Skipper in orange and black through the 2016 season.

Per Schulman:

"SABEAN and Bochy extensions to be announced within the hour. Thru 2016 I hear. #sfgiants."

Bochy has a career record of 1454-1444 during his tenures in San Diego and San Francisco, good for a winning percentage of .502. In San Francisco however, Boch has delivered far better results, returning a 503-469 record, good for a .517 winning percentage and of course two of those fancy shiny things you put on your fingers.

In addition to the solid record, Bochy also holds a Manager of the Year award in his resume which he received during the San Diego Padres’ 1996 World Series run, along with three third place finishes and one second place finish for the award.

Bochy and the crew may want to hope for a few more first place finishes before his extension runs out in 2016 as anytime the Giants have placed first in the National League West under Bochy’s helm, they’ve ended up on the right side of the seasons final out.

No word on the financial details, though, he’ll be undoubtedly compensated well given his recent history.

General Manger Brian Sabean was also extended through 2016, keeping Nike and their Jordan brand tracksuits in operation for at least three more years.

Note – there appears to be some confusion on the reports, there apparently are no option years as initially reported.
