New York Mets Showing “Strong” Interest In San Francisco Giants’ Brian Wilson

September 22, 2012; San Francisco, CA, USA; San Francisco Giants injured pitcher Brian Wilson (38) celebrates with mascot Lou Seal after the Giants defeated the San Diego Padres to win the National League west division at AT
Embattled reliever Brian Wilson apparently has no shortage of suitors – at least according to his representation – and few may be showing more interest than that of the New York Mets. The other New York team has had their eye on Weezy for a while and according to Bob Nightengale, Mets General Manager Sandy Alderson watched Wilson yesterday in a private workout:
"The New York #Mets are showing strong interest in former #SFGiants closer Brian Wilson. GM Sandy Alderson watched him Sat in private workout"
The Mets are looking to upgrade their closer situation after dealing with the inefficiency of Frank Francisco and his 5.53 ERA last season – a situation a healthy Wilson could certainly improve.
It’s just one of many Wilson rumors – though this is one of the few that appears to have any legs, shaky as they might be.
