At least – so says Brian Wilson‘s agent – or should I say, “source”.

The former Giants’ closer who departed on less than good terms earlier this offseason has been offering his services up and according to Scott Miller of CBS, he’s had no shortage of suitors:

"Lots of interest in Brian Wilson, source says. He’s still not close to signing but has narrowed list from 9 or 10 teams to 5 or so"

Given the lack of closers on the market, I don’t doubt the amount of teams showing interest in Wilson, though I question how many of those are offering him anything vastly different from the Giants’ supposed incentive laden deal and how many of them he’d actually be willing to play for.

If Wilson does indeed depart from the only organization he’s ever known, I can’t imagine it’ll be a smooth transition. Wilson is adored by most in San Francisco, even those who’ve grown tired of his eccentric ways and if he’s expecting the same type of admiration and love outside of San Francisco, it’ll be a rude awakening. I mean – two Championship’s in three years – beloved by the fanbase – a team leader –  fair money assuming he meets expectations. Yeah, he’s got it bad in San Francisco…

Either way – depending on who you listen to – Wilson appears to have no shortage of potential landing spots.
