The hearts of Giant fans (and eyes, of women faithful) will be a little happier today as the San Francisco Giants have announced the signing of Andres Torres to a one year deal. Torres, who the Giants sent to the New York Mets along with Ramon Ramirez in exchange for Angel Pagan was non-tendered, which allowed the Giants to scoop up their former center fielder who won a ring with the ballclub in 2010.
The 34 year old Torres struggled in New York with a .230/.327/.337 line in 434 plate appearances, but appeared to long for a return to the Bay as he was spotted at games during the Giants’ 2012 World Series run.
It’s expected that Torres will split time with Gregor Blanco and serve as the fourth outfielder.
