The writing has been on the wall for Tim Lincecum almost all season long. Today, Bochy literally wrote it when it was announced Ryan Vogelsong would get the Game 3 nod over Lincecum. If there is a Game 4, according to Andrew Baggarly, it will be either Barry Zito or back to Matt Cain, though it hasn’t been officially stated. That would mean that if we see Lincecum at all during the NLDS, it will be in a relief role.

Given the way that the starting pitching has struggled of late, there may be a good chance we see him after all, however.

Lincecum went 10-15 with a 5.18 ERA during the regular season, and while we saw bit of hope after the All-Star Break, particularly in September, he still hasn’t maintained control of his pitches like the two time Cy Young Award winner of previous seasons.
