Giants’ Offense Sputters As Padres Avoid the Sweep

By Amanda Gill

All around Petco Park( I mean, AT&T Park South) brooms were abundant and Giants fans were feeling good about life as many people decked out in orange made their way to the final game of the three game set againstthe San Diego Padres. The San Francisco Giants had won the first two, their offense coming alive. Sunday afternoon the heat was out and the sun was directly on the players as the teams took the field.

Clayton Richard cruised through the game, going eight innings and giving up an unearned run after Will Venable dropped Buster Posey’s pop up in right field.

Giants’ starter Ryan Vogelsong did not fare as well. He allowed three runs in the first inning and never could get a quick inning when he needed it.

The Giants are now a half game behind the Los Angeles Dodgers for first place in the National League West. They now head to LA to face the Dodgers for a three game set.
