It was inevitable, but the curtain has finally drawn on Giants’ infielder, Emmanuel Burriss. After parts of five seasons at the Giants’ Major League level, Burris was designated for assignment earlier this morning to make room for Marco Scutaro on the 25-man roster.
The light hitting Burriss somehow escaped the wrath of the pink slip for years, despite a career .243 average and average glove.
Out of options, Burriss will hope to latch on elsewhere or may opt to return to Fresno if no other team comes calling.
Then again, hard to imagine a career .243/.304/.270 line in 795 PA’s gaining much interest.
