Buster Blast Giants Past Braves; Giants 9, Braves 0

By Melissa Felkins

It didn’t take Buster Poseylong to feel comfortable in Georgia. The native Georgian was 3 for 5, with two doubles, a single and driving in 5 runs. This game became a laugher after the fourth inning when the Giants put up a 6 spot, three of the runs that inning came on a Buster Posey bases clearing double.

The Giants who had multi-hit game include:

This is production up and down the lineup. There were two bad parts to this game. The first happened in the fourth inning when Hector Sanchez got a base hit and was removed from the game due to a left knee sprain. It appears that Eli Whiteside will be boarding a plane if Sanchez goes on the disabled list.

Barry Zito, is there anything he can’t do? So, far this year, Barry Zito is undefeated in games where he gets an RBI single. Zito went 7 strong innings and gave up 3 hits, 1 BB and 0 ER. Just to put this into perspective when more people would have rather traded Zito than Jonathan Sanchez over the summer, let’s compare their 2012 seasons so far:

  • Barry Zito: 17 GS, 8-6, 3.75 ERA, 105.2 IP,93 H, 44 ER, 48 BB
  • Jonathan Sanchez: 12 GS, 1-6, 7.76 ERA, 53.1 IP, 65 H, 46 ER, 44BB

Not a Zito advocate but, numbers don’t lie.

Ryan Vogelsong will get the start against Mike Minor and the Giants will go for their season high 5th win in a row. I know it feels like they should have done this ages ago but, they’ve won 4 games in a row twice.
