No, the San Francisco Giants didn’t have much of a chance at Athletics outfielder Yoenis Cespedes and no, they didn’t really kick the tires all that much on the Cubs’ Jorge Soler, but the Giants did do some damage of their own. According to Andrew Baggarly and Baseball America, the orange and black recently signed Dominican centerfielder Gustavo Cabrera to a contract, the fifth ranked international prospect:
"From my friends at Baseball America: Dominican CF Gustavo Cabrera, the 5th-ranked international prospect, signed w/Giants for $1.3 million."
The 6 foot, 190 pound 16 year old has some scouts drooling over his all around skill set, but they are quick to point out some flaws with his hitting despite the fact many feel he’s possesses the “best tools in Latin America”.

In addition to Cabrera, the Giants also signed Dominican third baseman Nate Javier, a 17 year old, 6-3/185 who’s well liked for his smooth swing and understanding of the game’s fundamentals.
