MLB All-Star Voting Ends Tonight at 9pm (PDT)

By Melissa Felkins

MLB All-Star voting ends tonight at 8:59 pm Pacific time. I realized we hadn’t done a post about it from what I can tell, and seeing as how most people reading this site are Giants fans, it may be of interest for you to know the deadline and how to vote (if you haven’t already).

Before we get into specifics, let’s quickly look at the contenders that are Giants.

Buster Posey: Posey currently leads all NL catchers by about 220,000 votes. It’s not a lot of votes to make up though if Cardinals fans really want to get Yadier Molina there in a starting role. So by all means, so out there and vote for Posey so he keeps the lead. This would be his first All-Star game and most people will agree he’s earned that honor.

Melky Cabrera: Do I really need to say more? If this vote wasn’t a popularity contest at times, I’d say he’d be starting in Outfield for sure. Currently he’s sitting in 4th place, about 123,000 votes behind Ryan Braun. Matt Kemp is the current leader and will likely not be playing because of injury. Cabrera could have a chance at that spot as a manager replacement or selection, but let’s just get him there and in the starting spot outright. 123,000 votes really isn’t a whole lot.

Pitchers: Matt Cain, Madison Bumgarner, Ryan Vogelsong, Santiago Casilla, Sergio Romo // I would say all of these men are worthy contenders. However, pitchers are selected by the managers, not the fans. The best shot right now would be Matt Cain, though any of the three starters listed have the numbers to be considered. That’s a whole other post though.

Here’s how it works if you don’t already know.

  • You can vote up to 25 times per email address. You can use more than one address. Not condoning, just point that fact out.
  • Make sure to vote for Melky and Posey. After you vote the first time, it gives you a button asking if you want to vote again with the same votes, click “vote again” and repeat until you’ve voted 25 times from that email address (it will tell you when you reach the 25 limit).
