Giants’ Late Rally Pushes Them Past The Colorado Rockies

By Bryan Rose

It took some late inning magic on both sides of the ball, but the Giants escaped another nail biter tonight with a 3-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies.

After being stifled by Rockies rookie starter Christian Friedrich for seven innings, the Giants broke free in the eighth with RBI singles from Buster Posey and Brett Pill, building their lead to 3-1. A rough top half of the ninth tightened the strings though as Santiago Casilla loaded the bases, giving up a run on a Joquain Arias error before getting out of the jam on a dribbler, this time fielded perfectly by Arias.

The victory was the Giants’ third in a row, bringing the Giants back over .500 for the first time since late April.

Just a quick recap tonight as the FanSided servers are set for maintenance within the hour.

Giants go for the quick two game series sweep tomorrow evening before welcoming in Carlos Beltran and the St. Louis Cardinals.
