The Giants have faced the Florida Marlins many times in the past. They have never faced the Miami Marlins. With Ozzie Guillen as the manager, the San Francisco Giants will face the Miami Marlins for a three-game series starting Tuesday night at AT&T park.
Both Matt Cain (1-1, 2.37) and Ricky Nolasco (2-0, 3.20) have both been dominant this year, so runs will probably be scare in the first game of the series.
Matt Cain has a 3.20 ERA against the Marlins in nine career starts. He will be looking to bounce back from a 9-2 loss in his last start to the Cincinatti Reds.
Possibly the biggest storyline of the game: This is Buster Posey’s first game against the Marlins since his devastating injury last year. Posey has bounced back from the injury this year, batting .353 with four homeruns so far. He has started 14 games behind the plate, and four at first base.
So far, the Marlins are 2-9 on the road and the Giants hope that their road woes continue. It is possible that the Giants will face an old foe in Health Bell. The former Padres closer has an ERA over 10, and the Giants hope that a trip to familar AT&T Park will not help his numbers.
The Giants look to win three in a row now, as the Marlins look to end their slide having lost the last 8 of 9.
