Buster Posey

The 35 Million Dollar Man. Giants 4, Phillies 2

By Melissa Felkins

Madison Bumgarner had a good outing against the Phillies. I think with the deal he’s learning too much from Brian Wilson. For example the sixth inning (which is like the 9th inning only upside down) Jimmy Rollins got a single to start off the sixth, then Hunter Pence was Hit By Pitch (Maybe he deserved it, he hit a Home Run earlier in the game), then Ty Willington singled and the bases were loaded in the sixth. Bumgarner was able to retire the next three batters only allowing one run. Bumgarner was stellar through 6+ innings.

The Bad: This year is reminding me of last year with RISP. They were 2-12 during the game. This was after going 1 for 24 RISP with two outs over the last three games. In the Bottom of the seventh Brandon Crawford had a two out bases loaded strike out.

Here are some good highlights: Nate Schierholtz was 3 for 3 with a walk and an RBI. Melky Cabrera had a triple to open up the bottom of the first, along with Angel Pagan’s single. Pablo Sandoval grounded out to get Cabrera home. Who else was awesome tonight, none other than Buster Posey. Posey was 3 for 4 with a Stolen Base (kind of looked like the same stolen base from Game 1 of the NLDS in 2010).

Overall game grade: B. Good starting pitching, good relief pitching, and good hitting. Needs work on hitting with RISP.
