By Bryan Rose

It’s been a roller coaster of a few days for Giant fans, but finally some good news hits the wire as the Giants and Madison Bumgarner have agreed on a five year contract extension that will keep him in orange and black through 2017 – options for 2018 and 2019 included, this according to John Shea:

"#SFgiants signed Madison Bumgarner to five-year extension."

The deal will cover Madison through all of his arbitrational years in addition to his first year of potential free agency in 2017. No word on who holds the rights to the said option years – be it mutual, the Giants or Bumgarner himself. Terms of the deal have yet to be released.

Either way, great news for the Giants.

Update: The 2018 option is a club/vesting option while the 2019 is a straight club option. It’s expected that the guaranteed part of Bumgarner’s deal will be in the area of $28-32 million dollars.

Update #2: The deal is guaranteed to be at least $35 million and can jump into the $40’s if Bumgarner achieves super two status.
