Ah – how can you not just love this kid?
In hopes of getting a head start and easing himself back into the grind of day-to-day baseball activities, Buster Posey will be boarding a plane this morning to Scottsdale, Arizona – a week before his counterparts and the pitching staff are to meet him.
SI’s Joe Lemire was able to sneak in a quick telephone interview with Posey before he headed down to Arizona to get an update on his progress and health:
"“[My ankle] feels good and has progressively gotten better and better,” Posey said. “The biggest concern, I think, coming back from this was to gain my range of motion back, and I feel like I completely have my range back almost 100 percent. If it’s not 100 percent, it’s really close. I’m happy with it. I think the next hurdle will be seeing how it withstands games, what kind of endurance it’s going to have. I’m confident that it’ll respond well.”"
Posey spent a large portion of his Summer in San Francisco, making himself available to pitchers throughout the season before later heading to Arizona for rehab and eventually back home to Georgia for the holiday season, but it’s clear from Posey’s comments that he’s chomping at the bit to get back on the diamond for some game action.
He’s certainly not the only one excited to see that.
