John Bowker Signs With Giants – Uh, The Yomiuri Giants

Bowkermania swept through the Bay Area like a thunderous storm in 2008 and continued to marinate for the next few years, despite some lack-luster stats until teh Bowker was shipped to the Pittsburgh Pirates mid-way through the Giants 2010 Championship run in exchange for Javier Lopez. Unfortunately for Bowker, Pittsburgh and eventually Philadelphia weren’t as excited about Bowkermania, where he was eventually released by the Phillies early last month.

The Sacramento native and former Arden Little League Giant (come on – it’s a good story! You can cry now…) has opted to hopefully resurrect his career in Japan after signing a one year deal with the Yomiuri Giants.

Considered to be the Yankees of the Nippon Professional League with 21 Championships, the Yomiuri Giants have a handful of current MLB players who once graced their roster, along with many more former players who made their way to the Major League’s.

Hopefully Bowkermania will eventually make it’s way back state side, but until then, good luck John.

WHATCHU GONNA DO BROTHER, WHEN BOWKERMANIA RUNS WILD ON YOU?!
