San Francisco Giants Avoid Arbitration With Casilla, Melky Cabrera

By Bryan Rose

The Giants have been busy the past twenty-four hours, avoiding arbitration with the newly acquired Angel Pagan last evening and now coming to terms with both Santiago Casilla and Melky Cabrera this morning.

Cabrera, who came over in the Jonathan Sanchez trade earlier this offseason, signed a semi-lucrative one year, $6 million dollar deal to avoid arbitration while reliever Santiago Casilla cashed in as well, picking up a well deserved $2 million dollar one year deal. Casilla’s deal (much like Pagan’s) carries upwards of $200,000 dollars in potential incentives.

Tim Lincecum, Sergio Romo, Pablo Sandoval, and Nate Schierholtz are the only remaining Giants left in potential arbitration cases.
