Mark DeRosa Signs With Washington Nationals

By Ashley Varela

"@NationalsPR Nationals agree to terms with free-agent INF/OF Mark DeRosa on one-year contact."

It’s official: Mark DeRosa is taking his one-wristed powers to Washington. This should fulfill the wishes of both DeRosa and Giants fans, as he’ll get a chance to play closer to his home in Atlanta, and we’ll never have to hear about his wrist problems again (well, at least not until the July series against Washington).

After re-injuring his left wrist on a checked swing, DeRosa spent nearly three months on the DL in 2011, including a 13-game stint in Double and Triple-A. When healthy, he hit .279/.351/.302, producing 39 hits, 17 runs, and 15 RBIs.

Speaking of the remaining 2010 Giants, Cody Ross is not in talks with the Rockies, as previously reported by MLB Trade Rumors. They amended their post with this statement from Colorado: “The Rockies have always liked Cody as a player but we have no fit at all in our outfield.” As much as I wish all former Giants success with their future teams, it would be nice to see them stay out of the NL West for the time being.
