With a bit of help from the Merc’s Andy Baggerly, Baseball America released their annual San Francisco Giants Top 10 Prospect List, which not only includes the Giants top 10 prospects but also breaks down the best of the best in the Giants system, from best curveball to best outfield arm. Here are the top 10 players in the Giants system, according to Baseball America:
"1.Gary Brown, OF2.Tommy Joseph, 1B/C3.Heath Hembree, RHP4.Joe Panik, SS5.Francisco Peguero, OF6.Andrew Susac, C7.Eric Surkamp, LHP8.Kyle Crick, RHP9.Ehire Adrianza, SS10.Hector Sanchez, C"
As you can see by clicking the link, Eric Surkamp pretty much dominates the pitching categories which makes me excited, yet, slightly nauseated at the same time. Excited that he’ll *hopefully* take over Zito’s spot in the rotation sooner than later – but ready to vomit that Surkamp is currently the best starting arm in the Giants minor league system (by a significant margin).
The system is currently void of any can’t miss talent, but, hopefully Gary Brown’s talent will continue to blossom along with recent draft picks, Joe Panik and Tommy Joesph.
