Because the Giants need another poor defending, below average hitting outfielder…
"Add Ryan Ludwick to the list of free-agent outfielders who might intrigue the Giants. The Giants were believed to have scheduled a meeting Monday with Ludwick’s agent, Dan Horwits. Ludwick earned $6.775 million last season but might be more affordable than that this winter, even on the open market."
The career .260 hitter had a fantastic 2008 in St. Louis (and 77 games in 2010 prior to a trade to the San Diego Padres) but struggled during his tenure in the National League West, batting a near .220 in 162 games for the Friars.
Not sure where the Giants would play Ludwick, even with a Carlos Beltran departure – so the meeting strikes me as more than confusing.
