Brian Sabean: Buster Posey Ahead Of Schedule In Return From Injury

By Bryan Rose

Welcome news to any ears. Giants GM Brian Sabean says he feels Buster Posey, who’s recently been rehabbing in Arizona, is ahead of schedule in his return from injury.

Andy Baggerly of the Merc caught up with Sabean to check-in on a few situations, mostly injury related and found out the following, straight from Sabes:

"“It makes us feel he’s ahead of schedule,” Sabean said. “He’s responded very well to everything thrown at him, but we won’t have any way to map out or predict what the season will look like till we get to spring training. The closer we get, the more we’ll have a feel for how many games he can catch. You hope he can start the season full go.”"

Baggs also makes note that Sabean doesn’t feel the Giants will have the resources to bring in a high quality backup to spell Posey behind the dish, so as I pointed out yesterday, looks like it’ll be a toss up between Chris Stewart and Eli Whiteside yet again.

Either way – music to Giant fans ears that Posey is not only doing well but seemingly ahead of schedule.

Also of note in Baggs’ piece is the recovery of Brian Wilson and Pablo Sandoval, so, give it a read.
