Saying Goodbye To Pat Burrell – Pat The Bat Playing His Last Game?

By Bryan Rose

It wasn’t that long ago we assumed Pat Burrell would be back with the San Francisco Giants next year. Even after the devastating injury, Burrell let it be known he’d like to come back if the Giants wanted him back and few could imagine the Giants turning their backs on another 1 year, one million dollar deal.

However, with the foot injury continuing to worsen and Burrell essentially unable to do anything but pinch hit, it appears that Pat the Bat will be taking the field for the final time tomorrow – in a starting role, of course.

"Bochy says Pat Burrell will start tomorrow. Admires his professionalism. Likely the final career game for two-time World Series champ."

Very few have made the impact Burrell did in such a short period – only 187 games as a Giant. Hopefully, he’ll return in an advisement role next season if he indeed does hang it up. If not, the women of San Francisco and beyond may not survive it….

We’ll miss ya, Pat.

And you too…..
