Many Giants Playing Their Final Games In San Francisco

By Bryan Rose

In less than 36 hours, the disappointing 2011 season will come to an end and many players will be lacing up their black and orange cleats for a final time.

While this isn’t a sure fire list of who’ll be leaving, just look at the names of potential free agents to be. Some will be ushered out as quick as possible (here’s looking at you, Cabrera) and others most likely because they were outplayed by their counterpart (sorry, Eli) – but many questions remain for the rest.

  • Carlos Beltran
  • Cody Ross
  • Andres Torres
  • Jeff Keppinger
  • Mike Fontenot
  • Mark DeRosa
  • Orlando Cabrera
  • Eli Whiteside
  • Ramon Ramirez
  • Guillermo Mota
  • Javier Lopez
  • Jeremy Affeldt
  • Jonathan Sanchez
  • Ryan Vogelsong

With an already high payroll, the need to bring in one or two semi expensive free agents and already rostered players (like Lincecum) due for raises, it’s impossible for the Giants to bring back everybody they’d like.

For some, their return is almost guaranteed (Vogelsong), for others the Giants will most likely decline their team option and attempt to bring them back at a lower salary (Affeldt), but for so many, these next two games will possibly be their last in the China Basin.

We’ll dip into each players situation in a few days when the season has come to an end, but for now, enjoy the final few days in many of these players Giants’ career.
