San Francisco Giants’ Gary Brown Shines In Futures All-Star Game

By Bryan Rose

The Major League level Giants aren’t/weren’t the only members of the black and orange family to make the trip to Arizona. A few minor league level Giants (coaching staff and players) also made their way south to Chase Field to participate in the annual MLB Futures All-Star game, few having more eyes on them than last years top Giants pick, Gary Brown.

The speedster out of Cal State Fullerton didn’t disappoint in his Future’s debut, going one for two (would have been two for two if not for an outstanding robbery by the World’s third baseman) and picking up, what was at the time, a critical stolen base which later ended up in a run scored.

Brown hasn’t only had the eyes of Giant fans on him lately, as rumors leaked earlier this week that the Mets have been heavily scouting Brown in hopes of acquiring him in a Carlos Beltran deal. No worries though, my friends, as it’s very much wishful thinking on part of the Mets brass. Even savvy Sabes isn’t that desperate for Beltran.

I hope.
