Giants Slam Cardinals

By Melissa Felkins

What did Brandon Crawford say to Andres Torres after he hit his first Grand Slam yesterday? What took you SO long?!

Ah, the Grand Slam. Two in a week at that. It’s almost as if the baseball gods are smiling on us again. Almost.

So, the Giants beat the hot St. Louis Cardinals yesterday 7-3. Not only did we knock them out with fantastic pitching by Madison Bumgarner, but we scored runs! Granted, over half of them came from the Grand Slam off Torres in the fourth inning, but we at least put 3 other runs on the board. Cody Ross hit a solo home run in the 2nd inning to get the Giants going.

As mentioned, Bumgarner was fantastic. He earned his 2nd win yesterday only allowing 2 runs over 7 innings. Romo closed as out game since it wasn’t a Save situation for Brian Wilson and was just lights out. He faced, and retired, 3 batters. I really wish Bochy would use him more often.

It was a good win for the Giants and hopefully will give them some momentum on this 4 game series with the NL Central leaders.
