Giants Beat Dodgers; DeRosa, Rowand, Wilson Get Hurt

By Melissa Felkins

The Giants beat the Dodgers tonight 8-5 after a close call and allowing them to tie the game up in the 8th. Wilson blew the 4 out save, but got the Win in the end, his 4th of the season (and week). Cody Ross his a 3 run homer in the 9th to put the Giants back on top and Wilson came back in to finish it out.

Normally a Giants win over the Dodgers makes me feel all warm in fuzzy, however, this game just sucked.  Mark DeRosa came out after straining his wrist in the 4th while at bat. He didn’t get hit. He wasn’t even swinging or checking his swing. It was a bat load. I have no idea how he did that. Aaron Rowand hurt his back. Brian Wilson, in the 9th, hurt himself. He looked really hurt, but finished the game. Giants fans need to be praying it wasn’t his oblique again. I mean it, right now, to your knees. We need our closer. Update: Now they are saying it was Wilson’s ankle. It certainly didn’t look like an ankle, but what do I know?

I have a feeling we’ll be making a few calls ups in the next few days. If DeRosa is out again, and if he is it could be the end of his career, expect maybe Burriss or Rohlinger up. After Fontenot went into the game, we had no back up infielders on the bench tonight. I’ve heard Schierholtz played 3rd base in high school and college, so I guess that is always an option in worst case scenario.

By the way, Cain pitched a gem. Unfortunately, he still won’t get the win. Tejada had a good game too. Maybe, just maybe, he’s remembering how to play baseball? Fingers crossed.
