Happy Lincecum Day!

By Melissa Felkins

The Giants are preparing to taking on the Colorado Rockies in a few hours after splitting 2 games in Chicago against the Cubs. Game 3 of the series was postponed due to rain and will be made up at a date to be announced (possibly when the Cubs come to town in late June). It was an interesting series. After getting slayed in the first game, the Giants, and Ryan Vogelsong won a 7 inning 3-0 shutout before it was cancelled due to the rain.

Despite only being 7 innings, that game will go down in the record books at Ryan Vogelsong’s first complete game shutout in the Majors. I bet Barry Zito is getting nervous.

As luck would have it, Lincecum was supposed to pitch game 3 yesterday, but since it is postponed, he’ll get to face Jimenezand the Rockies. I’m sure they are thrilled (about as thrill as Barry Zito is with Vogelsong’s success I’m sure, or Pat Burrell is about sitting on the bench).
