Giants Win Two in Row; Lincecum Breaks Record; Freddy is Awesome

By Melissa Felkins

The Giants beat the Mets again last night by a score of 2-0. It wasn’t all pretty. It wasn’t all bad. Despite only scoring 2 runs off 9 hits and going 2 for 11 with runners in scoring position, they pulled off the win…with a little help from Tim Lincecum.

First off, he got his first Win at CitiField. More importantly, he struck out 12 batters in 7 innings. The icing on the cake though was that those 12 strikeouts gave him his 29th double digit strike out game. He surpassed Christy Mathewson for most by a Giant since 1900. By the way, it took Mathewson 550 starts to achieve that. Lincecum did it in 129 starts.

You want ice cream with the cake icing too? Greedy. Okay, well, here you go. Click on the image below to see what happens when Freddy Sanchez decides he really wants to catch a ball.

By the way, Miguel Tejada did get a hit this game.
