On Opening Day the hero was Aaron Rowand. Opening Night it was the new guy to the team, Miguel Tejada (and maybe bit Colby Rasmus of the Cardinals). The Giants took an early 1-0 lead, only to fall behind 2-1 by the 7th. All hope was never felt like it was lost though. After the dramatic extra inning game the day before, nothing is ever settled in baseball until the last out. And the last out it was.
In the bottom of the 9th, Posey hit a single and Burrell drew the walk with Bochy putting Brandon Belt in to pinch for him. Rowand struck out and put Tejada up to bat with 2 outs and two men on base. On his final strike and several foul tips, Tejada belted one to centerfield. Rasmus missed the catch, probably due partially to the windy night. His flub, allowed Posey and Belt to score, giving the Giants the walk-off win for the second night in a row.
Of other importance in the game, Andres Torres left the game with a strained achilles. Replacing him was Nate Schierholtz who got 3 hits in 3 at-bats. He is swinging the bat better this season and has showed how important he is to this team. Cain pitched 7 strong innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs. Runzler and Ramirez pitched strong to close the game out.
