Buster Posey Wins National League Rookie Of The Year

By Bryan Rose

Many expected this to be a nail biter between Posey and Atlanta Braves outfielder Jason Heyward. And close, it wasn’t.

Posey got a whopping 20 first place votes (out of 32 ballots) — 11 more than Heyward. The offensive future of the Giants turned in a .305/.357/.505 batting line, 18 home runs and 67 RBI in only 108 games, not to mention the outstanding defense behind the dish and superb game calling.

Nothing against Heyward (or even Jamie Garcia who should have got more run), good as he is, he simply wasn’t as good as Posey this year. In most other years, Heyward did plenty enough…but not this year.

Rumors have it that Buster Posey will be melting down the trophy and using the gold and silver funds to construct homes for underprivileged children in third world countries, that of course right after he blesses and heals the sick and elderly.
