Giants interested in Jayson Werth, according to ESPN’s Jayson Stark:
"As for Werth, Stark believes the Rays “head the list of interested teams.” The impending free agent would be moved to save money, stock the farm system, and open up a spot for Domninic Brown . Stark says the Red Sox, Giants, and Padres are also interested in Werth."
Buster Olney of ESPN hears the Giants are still interested in the Brewers Corey Hart:
"Heard this: As the trade deadline nears, the interest in Brewers outfielder Corey Hart is picking up. SF, TB, others…."
Jeff Fletcher says Ty Wigginton is a bat the Giants are keeping an eye on:
"#sfgiants, #rangers and #angels among the teams that have shown interest in Ty Wigginton this month"
David DeJesus continues to be a target for the black and orange as well, per Jon Morosi:
"At least five clubs are on #Royals OF DeJesus, source says. #Giants #RedSox #Padres #MLB"
Morosi also mentions the Giants as possible destinations for Nationals OF/1b Adam Dunn or Marlins 3b Jorge Cantu:
"#Giants remain interested in Hart and DeJesus, with Dunn and Cantu also on their list, source says. #Brewers #Royals #Nats #Marlins #MLB"
Personally, I have a hard time believing the Giants are in on the Werth talks. Nothing other than opinion, but, the price tag seems like it would be far too high. Not a big fan of Wigginton, though, I’d expect the price tag to be pretty low.
DeJesus is a pretty intriguing idea for the Giants – a very solid defender, solid hitter, and a cheap team option next year. Problem with that? The price tag. There have been varying reports on DeJesus’ price tag, one of which from the North County Times in San Diego claiming the Royals want a mid-high level prospect and a major league ready pitcher. Eeeek.
Along with those rumors, talks are still swirling that a Fielder trade is possible, especially with the Brewers best offer so far being a middle of the line starter (currently a minor leaguer) from the White Sox. It’s subject to opinion on what the Giants would need to part with. Some say Cain. Some say Sanchez. Some say Bumgarner. I say no to Cain and Bumgarner, but, they can have Sanchez if they so desire.
Per Jon Heyman, Giants are also targeting Jose Bautista. No word how many Giant fans vomited upon hearing the news.
