When I think San Francisco Giant or Milwaukee Brewer rumors, I obviously think Boston.com – don’t you?! In all seriousness though, Nick Cafardo of the Globe is reporting that the Brew-Crew has been dangling their right fielder to anybody who’ll listen and and the Giants are all ears. Hart, who has 18 homeruns and 60 RBI in 73 games this year is on an absolute terror and the Brewers know that with Hart being arbitration eligible after the season, he’s going to become quite an expensive player. Add in the fact that they’re trying, key word, trying, to re-sign Prince Fielder – they know they can’t afford them both.
As for the Giants spin on this – I’m not a huge fan. Reason number one is the fact that he is arbitration eligible and is having a video game number type year so far. He’s a career .275 hitter (which isn’t awful, but…), nothing spectacular with the glove, and isn’t normally a huge power threat.
If the price is right – the most I’d give it is a maybe, but, I have a feeling the Brewers aren’t going to be selling short on the guy despite their financial crunch.
