It wouldn’t be an upcoming trade deadline without more rumors of a Prince Fielder to the Giants move – it’s almost become a right of passage. The Brewers and their first baseman still are not making progress on any contract to re-up the slugger and Milwaukee fears they’ll lose him for nothing. Rumors came out a few weeks ago that the Brew Crew were asking the Giants for pitcher Jonathan Sanchez and a mid to high level prospect, a price which the Giants deemed too high. And while I’d assume they’d give the talks another attempt or two before the deadline, ESPN’s Buster Olny hears things are all quiet on a potential move:
"Heard this: There have been no recent trade talks between the Giants and Brewers about Prince Fielder."
I’m not really sure where I stand on a Fielder trade. The guy is one of the best power threats in the league and he’s only 26 years old. It’s hard enough to find a respectable, legit power hitter on the market let alone one that is only 26 and hits for a solid average. But the price has to be right – and I’m not sure a Sanchez/high level prospect such as Thomas Neal is low enough for me yet. I’d definitely be interested if we replaced Neal with a lower level prospect, but, Milwaukee might just move on. So, what are your thoughts my little snowflakes? Do you do it?!
