Giants Slide Continues – Lose Series To Red Sox

By Bryan Rose

Just when you almost felt comfortable to announce that Lincecum is back, he goes out and does that. Ouch.

I’m not sure what to say about this afternoons game or the series for that matter. Hell, I don’t even know what to say about the Giants past ten games or so – they’ve been pretty awful. It’s great evidence to show just how average the Giants as a team are when their starting pitchers don’t toss gem after gem.

The bullpen finally stepped up today, sadly though it was far too late as the Giants were already in a big hole and the offense looked absolutely dreadful (again). I’m not trying to take anything away from Jon Lester, but it felt like a high school pitcher throwing to a tee-ball team. It was pure and complete domination. Incredibly disappointing.

With the loss, the Giants have lost 6 of 9 and now face the tough task of the Dodgers for three games and then travel to Colorado for a four game set versus the Rockies. A continued bad stretch in the next seven games and the Giants might find themselves sitting 7 to 8 games out of first, alone in fourth place in the NL West. Not a pretty sight.

Also, if you need any more reason to slit your wrists? Once the Giants wrap up the series versus the Dodgers, they’ll have a total of FOUR home games between July 1st and July 26th. The Giants also (other than the All-Star break) have one day off until August 16th. Almost two full months without a day off. Time to sack up, Nancy.
